"Why are you not wearing the white skirt ? Aren't you aware that Friday's uniform requires you to wear the white one ?" I asked one of my friends.
"Mridula you don't understand. My aunt is here" my friend replied.
"Your aunt ? Here-in school ?" I gave her a look of disbelief.
"No not my real aunt. My monthly guest"
That was the first time I realised that you don't call it a period. You call it 'aunt' in public.
Yes, the aunt of all females. The one who pays them a monthly visit. Any guesses ?

A 12 year old girl in Tamil Nadu allegedly committed suicide after reportedly shamed by her teacher for staining her clothes with menstrual blood in front of her class, NDTV reported.
Did You Know ??????
1. Twelve percent GST on sanitary napkins has forced women mainly from low-income groups to switch back to use cloth during their menstrual cycle.
2. A recent study by a sanitary travel manufacturer found that 75% of women in cities continue to buy their pads wrapped in brown paper or newspaper because of the shame associated with menstruation.
Menstruation is a normal physiological process in all women of the age group 10-50 years. We are all aware of it but unaware of the importance of acknowledging it.
Some welcome it with a scream,
While others consider it a bad dream,
It is a biological process-that we all know,
But talking about it is a big "NO",
Girls giggle and boys gossip about it,
Being vocal about it is not a matter of wit,
Even today, discussing periods is considered a taboo,
Come on folks! It is a normal mechanism like loo,
It's high time we acknowledged menstruation,
Don't blindly follow others in the hesitation,
1 out of 3 girls drops out from school every year,
Is there no value of their tears ?
Accept this and tell others to do the same,
Because hiding or running away is a matter of shame,
Periods is not a disease but close minded thinking surely is,
Do get yourself checked if you too are suffering from this !!!!!!!
