THE MONTHLY GUEST .........

"Why are you not wearing the white skirt ? Aren't you aware that Friday's uniform requires you to wear the white one ?" I asked one of my friends.
"Mridula you don't understand. My aunt is here" my friend replied.
"Your aunt ? Here-in school ?" I gave her a look of disbelief.
"No not my real aunt. My monthly guest"
That was the first time I realised that you don't call it a period. You call it 'aunt' in public.
Yes, the aunt of all females. The one who pays them a monthly visit. Any guesses ?

31 August 2017
A 12 year old girl in Tamil Nadu allegedly committed suicide after reportedly shamed by her teacher for staining her clothes with menstrual blood in front of her class, NDTV reported.

Did You Know ??????
1. Twelve percent GST on sanitary napkins has forced women mainly from low-income groups to switch back to use cloth during their menstrual cycle.
2. A recent study by a sanitary travel manufacturer found that 75% of women in cities continue to buy their pads wrapped in brown paper or newspaper because of the shame associated with menstruation.

Menstruation is a normal physiological process in all women of the age group 10-50 years. We are all aware of it but unaware of the importance of acknowledging it.

Some welcome it with a scream,
While others consider it a bad dream,
It is a biological process-that we all know,
But talking about it is a big "NO",
Girls giggle and boys gossip about it,
Being vocal about it is not a matter of wit,
Even today, discussing periods is considered a taboo,
Come on folks! It is a normal mechanism like loo,
It's high time we acknowledged menstruation,
Don't blindly follow others in the hesitation,
1 out of 3 girls drops out from school every year,
Is there no value of their tears ?
Accept this and tell others to do the same,
Because hiding or running away is a matter of shame,
Periods is not a disease but close minded thinking surely is,
Do get yourself checked if you too are suffering from this !!!!!!!

RELIGIOUSLY TOGETHER............

In a diverse country like India, the concept of Jai-Veeru friendship is not new. But this amazing pair of Tom and Jerry have truly taken my world by a storm. They have made me believe that true friendship doesn't follow any rule book. Their different religions don't stop them from loving each other. In fact, it only makes their bond stronger. This is my small gift to two adorable individuals on this planet.

It is the story of two women I knew,
their relation isn't recent or new,
but it surely seems they have known each other since ages,
defying all boundaries and cages,
they make me believe in friendship,
they no longer need words to express their relationship,
distance couldn't break it,
time further strengthened it,
they have had their share of fights,
but trust has never lost sight,
affection seems to have grown by leaps and bounds,
so much that I can't even count,
I pray that the brightness of their friendship never goes dim,
and to each other they always remain akin.

They are none other than Amma and Humra masi.
Never forget how special you are.......

A Dreamy Tale

If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough........

So true does that sound. Have you ever wondered what dreams actually are ? Are they what we see with your eyes closed ? I disagree, these are what we see from our eyes open. These can keep us awake. A dream is not something you sleep upon. It is the fire that keeps you going through the thick and thin. It's a vision, it's a drug.

This was a great thought to start with. For all those dreamers out there, here are some amazing facts about dreams that you see with your eyes closed .....

1. The colder the room you sleep in, higher are the chances of having a bad dream.

2. Every human being dreams. However, some believe that they don't. They just forget theirs.

3. Further, it believed that if you are unable to sleep at night then it is possible that you are awake in someone else's dream.

4. The faces of the people we see in our dreams are people we have actually seen before even if just for a split of a second. Our brain cannot create faces.

5. Dreams reveal feelings that you have hidden or repressed because dreams are the reflection of unconscious mind. (So, don't consider them as being irrelevant.)

6. In average lifetime, we spend 6 years dreaming.

7. We cannot snore and dream at the same time. So, everytime you see someone snoring, you can be sure they aren't dreaming.

8. Anxiety and fear are two common emotions experienced in dreams.

9. Blind people dream as well. Their dreams include experiences of their other senses.

10. You won't believe but dreams have brought about many breakthroughs. On the contrary, I am sure you would be able to recall that Einstein dreamt about electrocuting cows and went on to give the Special Theory of Relativity.

11. Dream catcher is a small hoop containing a horsehair mesh decorated with feathers and beads. It is said to catch bad dreams and is believed by American Indians to give its owners good dreams.

Happy Dreaming...........

Ek Nayi Soch !
